A tale as old as time reimagined

This new production combines the heartwarming story and unforgettable songs from the 1991 animated classic with state-of-the-art technology, stunning new sets and breathtaking costumes, ensuring audiences of all ages fall under its spell. Iconic numbers like Be Our Guest, Gaston, and Belle are performed by a stellar all-Australian cast, featuring Shubshri Kandiah as Belle and Brendan Xavier as the Beast.

Adding a local touch, Melbourne performers Rohan Browne and Gareth Jacobs bring Lumiere and Cogsworth to life, while Jayde Westaby charms as Mrs. Potts. Other Victorian cast members include Southbank’s Nick Cox as Le Fou, Wonthaggi’s Rodney Dobson as Maurice, and Melbourne locals Alana Tranter (Madame) and Hayley Martin (Babette).

This reimagined version reunites members of the original creative team, including director and choreographer Matt West, composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice and scenic designer Stan Meyer. Their collaboration brings new energy and innovation to this timeless tale.

From its unforgettable songs to its breathtaking visual spectacle, Beauty and the Beast is more than just a musical – it’s an experience that creates lasting memories for audiences of all ages. Melbourne has only a few months left to enjoy this enchanting production before it takes its final bow on 20 April 2025.
